Songfacts®:

  • Formed in 2001, The Benjy Davis Project made a name for themselves touring the south, including supporting slots with John Mayer and Better Than Ezra. The band is led by Davis, who is their lead singer and primary songwriter. He told us: "'Clowns' was inspired by several different people in the business, one in particular, who would come to practices and small shows just to brag about his bands and his influence on everything... awesome. I won't name names, but he's short, middle aged with highlights in his hair (yeah), and he may or may not work with Matchbox 20." (the band's website is: bdpmusic.com)
