Songfacts®:

  • Betty Moon told Songfacts the story behind this song:

"The odd thing about lyric writing is that sometimes a lyric may not seem relevant at the time, then down the road boom, it all clicks into place. A lot of my songs feel like a precursor to the events that follow, almost like I am writing little pieces of the future before I fully understand them.

'Want Me To' is about a fresh, new intimate relationship. That spark at the beginning: the flirtation and playfulness that feel effortless and electric. It is the first kiss, the butterflies, the curiosity, and the excitement of discovering someone new, along with the endless possibilities of what that connection could become.

At its core, it is about the emotion of wanting your new love to see you and understand that you would give them everything without expecting anything in return. There is a boldness in that vulnerability, mixed with teasing energy and chemistry that builds naturally. It captures those moments of closeness and passion where everything feels heightened, like you are experiencing love for the first time all over again, completely present with each other in the moment."
  • "Want Me To" was released as a single from Moon's 2026 EP Strangely Beautiful, her first new music since 2021.
