Songfacts®:

  • "Levii's Jeans" is a track recorded by Beyoncé for Cowboy Carter, an album where she reclaims country music's Black roots. This isn't your typical country ballad about heartbreak and pickup trucks. Beyoncé throws in a healthy dose of pop and throws tradition to the wind with this sultry, seductive number.
  • Beyoncé has been pushing boundaries since her days in Destiny's Child, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that "Levii's Jeans" is a touch on the flirty side. She teams up with her fellow Texan Post Malone (born up in Syracuse, New York, but hey, details!), and together they trade some mighty suggestive lyrics. Beyoncé sings sweet nothings to Posty, who in turn throws back compliments fit for a real-life cowgirl.
  • The whole song's a shameless shoutout to Levi's jeans, those denim staples that have wrangled cowboys for generations. Rather than feeling the denim pinch on her backside, Beyoncé lets her man's hands do the squeezing. It's a mighty sensual turn, that's for sure.
  • Levi Strauss & Co. must have done a jig after hearing the song – after the song's release their stock price shot up 20% faster than a runaway longhorn! They even went and changed their name on social media to "Levii's" for a bit of fun.

This isn't the first time a company got a Beyoncé bump: after she mentioned the restaurant chain Red Lobster in her 2016 song "Formation," sales shot up.
  • Beyoncé co-penned the song with Post Malone, her husband Jay-Z, her frequent songwriting partner The-Dream, and the legendary Nile Rodgers of Chic fame (he's also the mastermind behind hits like Diana Ross' "I'm Coming Out," Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" and Bey's "Cuff It"). Rodgers also added guitar.
  • Post Malone made a guest appearance at Beyoncé's halftime performance during the Ravens/Texans NFL game on Christmas Day 2024 to give "Levii's Jeans" its live debut, with Post making his entrance from the back of a pickup truck. The game took place in Houston and was one of two that day that were streamed live on Netflix for the first time. Other Cowboy Carter collaborators also showed up during the 13-minute performance, including Shaboozey, whose "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" took off after he appeared on the album.
