Songfacts®:

  • Springsteen wrote this to provide energy for the live shows and balance off the ballads on The River. Many of Springsteen's songs deal with the challenges in relationships, but this song is about all the wonderful things that a loving couple can bring to each other.
  • This was featured on the 1999 E Street Band reunion tour, sometimes as the opening song.

  • Josh from Terre Haute, InThis is my favorite song of all time. The first time I heard it was on the Live from New York dvd and that performance made me fall in love with this song. Another great version on the 75-85 box set.
  • Don from San Antonio, TxThis song rocks devastatingly. When this, "Ties That Bind" and "Hungry Heart" rally together, buildings fall. I hate to say it, but I was not impressed with any of the recent live performances of this song. Yawn. It deserves a better performance!
  • Dean from Danbury, CtIf you watch the 2001 live from NYC you will see how muxch this song means to Bruce, he has Steven Van Zandt sing it with him, it was there song.....from the begining......
