Songfacts®:

  • Here, Ed Sheeran joins Burna Boy to reflect on their respective relationships. During the heartfelt ballad, both artists express their gratitude for their partner's devotion through tough times.
  • "For My Hand" was the last of several songs Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran penned back to back in a single studio session. "We made like five songs on the same day," Burna Boy recalled to Apple Music. "That's how organic it was. That's it, man. The guy's just such a genius, man. He just knows what's what, and when. This was the last one we did. We started working on and he was like, 'Yeah, this is it. This is the one. This is it.'"
  • Burna Boy and Sheeran previously worked together when they both featured on Stormzy's 2019 UK chart-toppper "Own It."
  • Nigerian-British producer P2J helmed the song. He's also worked with the likes of Beyoncé ("Brown Skin Girl"), Stormzy ("Bad Boys"), Dave ("Titanium") and Wizkid ("Essence").
  • The two artists performed the song live for the first time on June 30, 2022, when Sheeran brought Burna Boy out during his concert at the Wembley Stadium in London. The Nigerian singer released "For My Hand" a week later as his second single from Love, Damini.
