Songfacts®:

  • Carly Pearce started going out with her now-husband, Michael Ray, in the summer of 2018. The songstress co-wrote this upbeat song with Joe Ginsburg and Laura Veltz after their second date. Even back then she knew Ray was someone special:

Boy, whatever you're selling I'm buying
I'm losing it a little but I'm liking it
There's something in the air tonight
My heart's going out of its mind

Pearce explained in a behind-the-scenes video that she told Ginsberg and Veltz during their session: "I have no idea how I'm saying this to you, but I'm gonna marry this person."

She added: "I just wanted to write that fun, anthemic feeling of, 'I feel crazy, but in a great way.'"
  • Carly Pearce recorded "Heart's Going Out of its Mind" for her eponymous second album. The song is not the only time Michael Ray appears on the record: He is also on a duet between the pair titled "Finish Your Sentences."
