This is the tale of how a young wife tries to cope with the death of her soldier husband.
This was written by Gordie Sampson, Steven McEwan and Hillary Lindsey. The trio also wrote "Get Out of This Town" on Carnival Ride. Additionally Sampson and Lindsey wrote Underwood's 2005 hit "Jesus, Take The Wheel," together with Brett James.
According to an interview with Sirius radio's New Country station, this was the first song that Underwood picked for Carnival Ride.
This became Underwood's seventh country #1 in November 2008. It was the fourth single from Carnival Ride to achieve pole position. This made Underwood the first solo female artist to pull a quartet of chart-toppers from one album since Shania Twain in the mid 1990s. The Canadian singer's set The Woman In Me contained four different tracks that reached #1 in 1995-96.

Kaitlyn from Grovedale, AbI think this song is about a girl who gets married to this amazing guy who then goes off to war and is shot. She was planning on forever but it never happened. She thought getting married to him was a dream and she thought that him dying was a dream too.
Kate from Oneonta, NyOMG. so this song came out when my boyfriend was in Iraq. Hes a marine. I cant even explain how I felt when I heard this song, but I'll say I couldnt make it 2 chords into the song before I started crying. He made it back, and I can hear this song, but it makes me feel sad for the rest of the people who still have loved ones over there. Bless our troops and hope to bring everyone home safe real soon!
Elody from Yakitomi, Japanthe video for this is so sad see she is at the begining she is im getting married this has to be just a dream cause it's to good to be true then the guy dies in war and she like this cant be happening and she is telling herself that this is just a dream
Lauren from Ft. Rucker, AlThe way I see the song is she is engaged to a soldier and he is deployed, and she is asleep dreaming about her wedding and but then the thought her fiance being killed runs through her mind and now shes dreaming about that. I don't know. Or maybe they have a wedding date set and she is dreaming about that but then wakes up and realizes that he's dead and is going to his funeral instead of her wedding. I know this is a very sad song, trust me I've experienced the thought and worry of something happening to my fiance when he was deployed. Not a fun thing. God bless all the troops and family members.
Dustin from New Lexington, OhThis is going to be Carrie's top single YET! This song is amazing, its soooo sad yet almost all American's can relate to this song now that we are in war and almost everyone has a "loved one" over seas fighting for our freedom. I can not wait to see this music video. Carrie really is amazing.
Alia from Foster City, Cajust as a clarification about the plot of the song, the girl decided to wear her wedding dress TO the funeral, right?
