Songfacts®:

  • Here, Carrie Underwood yearns to rekindle the passionate romance that once burned brightly between her and her partner.
  • Underwood addresses her man, confronting the stark reality that the flames of their love have dwindled over time. Gone are the days of stolen glances and stolen kisses, replaced by hectic schedules and lost connections. But now, she's had enough. She's ready to ignite the spark once again.

Take me out on the town
Flirt with me in the dark
Make my heart skip a beat
Like only you can do to me

Underwood is no longer content to wait idly by for the embers to glow again. Instead, she boldly lays out her desires, sparing no detail. Her message is crystal clear: she longs for the wild, exhilarating romance they once shared, and she's not afraid to ask for it.
  • Carrie Underwood recorded "Take Me Out" for Denim & Rhinestones (Deluxe Edition). The expanded version of her 2022 album includes six songs additional to the standard edition, including the single "Out Of That Truck."
  • Underwood co-wrote "Take Me Out" with her regular writing partners Hillary Lindsey and David Garcia. Lindsey co-wrote eight out of the 12 tracks on the standard edition of Denim & Rhinestones, including "Ghost Story" and the title track. Garcia co-produced the entire album with Underwood.
  • Garcia played the keyboards. The other musicians are:

    Jerry Roe: drums, percussion
    Ilya Toshinskiy: acoustic guitar
    Jimmie Lee Sloas: bass
    Rob McNelley: electric guitar
    Derek Wells: electric guitar
    Dave Cohen: keyboards
