• Born Carter Faith Jones in Davidson, North Carolina, country singer Carter Faith grew up in a family who loved music but didn't perform (or so she thought - she later found out her paternal grandmother was a cruise ship singer). She caught the songwriting bug when a teenage Taylor Swift started climbing the country charts and wrote her first song after a breakup at 16. "No song I turned on was making me feel better, so I had to write one myself," Faith told Billboard in 2022. "It was nothing I had planned. I never thought about being a songwriter, I just did it."
• She released her debut album, Cherry Valley, in 2025. It was nominated for the Academy of Country Music Award for Album of the Year in 2026, making Faith the first artist in more than a decade to garner a nomination for their debut album. The trophy, however, went to Parker McCollum for his self-titled 2025 album.
• At first, Faith decided to focus on songwriting because she was too scared to be a singer. She enrolled in a songwriting program at Nashville's Belmont University in 2018 with every intention of solely becoming a songwriter - until she was expected to let her songs go. "I didn't really want people to sing my songs," she told Off The Record in 2026. "I was like, 'No, that's for me.'"
• The first time she played a stadium was when she joined Post Malone on the second leg of his Big Ass Stadium Tour in 2026. Faith was nervous she wouldn't be a good fit for the rapper turned country singer's audience, but the unexpected edginess behind her blonde Southern Belle looks won them over. "I think probably when I came on stage every night, people were confused. And then hopefully by the end they're like, 'Oh, she's a little mad. Something's off. Something's off in her brain.' So that might be why she's here," she told Off The Record.
• Faith's younger brother, Griffin Jones, is also a musician. Going by the name Grifdorf, he blends hip-hop and alternative pop into what he calls Space Funk.
• It was hard for her to get her career off the ground while she was stuck indoors during the COVID-19 pandemic, but social media kept a little buzz going, especially when Carly Pearce shared Faith's sophomore single, "Sinners In A Small Town," on Instagram in 2020. The "Every Little Thing" singer even invited her to open some shows for her when venues started reopening.
• Faith wrote the songs "Goodbye" and "Lay Your Heartache Onto Mine" with Billy Bob Thornton for season 2 of his TV series Landman, along with fellow Nashville songwriters Jessie Jo Dillon and Mark Collie. She and the actor became good friends and she invited him to appear in the music video for "Bar Star."
• Faith made her acting debut in the 2026 Netflix thriller Heartland, where she portrays a rising country singer whose disappearance causes her cousin, a former country star played by Jessica Chastain, to launch her own investigation.
• Faith's songwriting process almost always begins with the lyrics and she refuses to abandon a good line just because it's a little off-kilter. She told Off The Record, "If it's what needs to be said … I'm going to put any lyric in there even if it's extremely weird or off the cuff or doesn't really fit syllabically."
• Some of Faith's earliest musical memories come from listening to her grandpa's cassette tapes during the drive to preschool. She learned to appreciate country and rock acts from the '50s and '60s, including Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Nancy Sinatra, and The Beach Boys. "I love Jim Croce, weirdly," she told Women in Pop. As she got older, she added Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, and Lana Del Rey to her playlist. As a result, her music sounds like vintage country with a modern flair.
