• "Bar Star" is the fourth single from country singer Carter Faith's 2025 debut album, Cherry Valley. The song opens with the North Carolina native admitting that while some girls like clean-cut professional men with bright futures, she goes for the drunken slacker who can't see beyond the end of the bar. The "happy hour hero" can't handle his liquor but somehow manages to charm her anyway. "Bless his liver and his honky tonk heart," she sings in the chorus, "'Cause my baby's a bar star."
  
  Luckily this guy is entirely fictional. Faith was inspired to write the tune during a night out when her friend quipped, "There's a lot of bar stars here tonight," and she thought it sounded like a country song. "I don't even know what this is about, to be so honest," she admitted to the Off The Record podcast in 2026. "I guess it's about a boyfriend who's drunk and annoying, but you have stars in your eyes when you look at him, which is just kind of like a shallow thought, but it's fun. And so it sounded like a bar to me."
  
  The rest of the songwriting team includes Tofer Brown (the album's producer), along with country singers Tyler Halverson and Aaron Raitiere.
• The music video features her real-life pal Billy Bob Thornton, who portrays the title "Bar Star." The unlikely pair met when she came to Texas to write songs with him, along with fellow country scribes Jessie Jo Dillon and Mark Collie, for Thornton's TV show Landman. They became fast friends, but she was still nervous to ask him to appear in the clip and needed a bit of liquid courage.
  
  "I remember I was flying back, and I was drunk on a plane," she recalled. "And Jessie was like, 'Just ask him if he'll be in it.' And I asked him, he's like, 'I would love to.'"
  
  The video was filmed at Magnolia Motor Lounge in Fort Worth, Texas, which is one of Thornton's favorite spots.
• When Faith happened upon a Tennessee town called Cherry Valley, the name stuck in her mind and evolved into a colorful imaginary land populated by characters from her songs. "I would write songs, and some of them would live in Cherry Valley and some of them didn't," she told Rolling Stone in 2025. "It was just this fantastical dreamland that I created in my head, and I wanted my songs to live in that world too. I love the drama. I wanted them all to feel like they could fit in that very weird, Alice In Wonderland world."
• When Cherry Valley was nominated for the Academy of Country Music Award for Album of the Year in 2026, it was the first time in over a decade that an artist earned the nomination with their debut album, the last being Chris Stapleton's Traveller in 2015.
