Songfacts®:

  • This song is from the 2007 stage musical Legally Blonde, adapted from the 2001 film with songs by the husband-and-wife team of Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin. Both contributed to the music and lyrics.

"There! Right There!" is performed in the courtroom by Elle, Professor Callahan and the rest of the legal team. They are defending Brooke Wyndham who is charged with murdering her husband. On the stand, prosecution witness Nikos claims he was Brooke's lover, which gives her a motive for murder. Elle though is convinced that Nikos was not her lover, nor the lover of any other woman. She is so convinced because she has performed the bend and snap in front of him without his batting an eyelid.

The song is actually a discussion, is he gay or European? A question many Europeans may find offensive.

As it happens it turns out that he is both, and is outed on the stand by Emmett and his own male lover, Carlos, who is watching the trial. >>>
