Songfacts®:

  • In the emotional battlefield of breakups, Cat Burns isn't asking for much - just a shred of honesty. In her powerful anthem "You Don't Love Me Anymore," she pleads with her ex to spill the beans on why their love crashed and burned.
  • It would hurt less if you gave a reason
Just something I can keep when
I have to watch you walkin' out the door
Oh, just say there's someone else that you adore
Not you don't love me anymore

Cat begs her former lover to give her a reason for ending the romance, rather than simply saying that they don't love her anymore. She is willing to face any of her flaws or shortcomings if it means she can understand why the relationship ended.

"It's so delicately written and it gently speaks about a fear loads of us have in relationships where we're worried our partner may wake up one day and no longer love us," said Burns. "I truly hope this song brings comfort to anyone going through this exact thing right now."
  • Cat Burns wrote the song with Victoria Zaro and Britten Newbill. Singer-songwriter Victoria Zaro is Tate McRae's regular songwriting partner. Britten Newbill's resumé also includes John Legend's "Good Morning" and Daya's "Hide Away."
  • Kurisu (real name Chris Thomas) produced the track. He's an electronic artist and producer from North London who also played all the instruments in the song (keyboards, bass, electric guitar and cello).
  • Burns' sister Kristen took the photo for the single's cover.
