Songfacts®:

  • The Los Angeles band Centershift is led by Jasan Radford, formerly of OneSideZero. He told Songfacts the story behind this song:

"I wrote the chorus for 'From Where We Are' after having 'one of those days' so to speak, haha. We were all arriving for rehearsal for writing sessions and pre-pro for the record, when Ryan [Stuber] started to play the chorus riff, 'I have something for that!'

'From where we are, we can see the water rise,' is my thoughts on that feeling of a weight on your shoulders and feeling stuck, we can wait until it dries, I'm saying, I know it will change...

'I close my Eyes to dream again, I can't wait until I reach the Shallows, but still so far away.' A Dream can be a clear sense of change, reaching the Shallows is that change, but knowing those issues are still there, but being comfortable knowing you can deal with the issue' as they come.

Whether in addiction, sobriety, relationships, friendships, the ability to self reflect, to reach out, and to know there is a way to be OK, tater cleanses all!"
