Songfacts®:

  • Cher was 43 and getting a second wind when she released "Still In Love With You," a song that finds her pining for a guy she can't let go, on her album Heart Of Stone. Two years earlier, she got back in the radio with "I Found Someone," her first hit since the '70s. That song was written by one Michael Bolton, who proved that with a good song, Cher still had the magic.

When it came time to record Heart Of Stone, Bolton was busy becoming a superstar solo artist, but he did carve out time to write and produce a few songs for the album, including "Still In Love With You," co-written with another songwriter, Bob Halligan, Jr. It wasn't released as a single but the album was huge, selling 3 million copies just in America. The big hits were "If I Could Turn Back Time" and "Just Like Jesse James," both written by Diane Warren, the latter co-written by Desmond Child.
  • Cher had many romantic interests but it's not likely any of them apply to this song. She left the songwriting to others and did her best to keep her personal life out of it. It's kinda like acting, which she was also really good at. She had a number of acclaimed movie roles in the '80s, including Silkwood, Mask, and Moonstruck, for which she won the Best Actress Oscar.
