This was originally recorded by the Italian electronic music producer Giorgio Moroder. It was called "Nachts Scheint Die Sonne" in Germany. Moroder's original version was the first time that he used a synthesiser.
This was the first ever UK #1 to feature a synthesizer. The Moog synthesizer was played by engineer Chris Thomas, who went on to become a famous producer.
This was Chicory Tip's first and biggest UK hit. They went on to record two more Top 20 singles - "What's Your Name" and "Good Grief Christina."

intro? It aired on Saturday afternoon - may have been regional (I lived in the New Orleans area at the time) or syndicated. This would have been in the early '70s.
Frankie from Cranbrook Bc Canada 1977 is when I first heard Son of my Father. It was on some KTel record if my memory is correct. It caught my attention right away with it's cool beat and groove. Just heard it again today for the first time since then. Talk about timeless stuff. Brought back so many memories.
