Songfacts®:

  • This was released as the lead single from The Upside Of Down, the sophomore release of Contemporary Christian Music singer/songwriter Chris August under the Fervent record label. The song was made available on June 12, 2012.
  • Chris August penned the song with Nashville songwriter Ben Glover, whose other credits include Francesca Battistelli's "Don't Miss It" and Lee Brice's "Hard To Love." Chris told us that the lyrics were inspired by a concept he had on his heart concerning, "how God is there through it all in the beginning, the good and the bad, and in the end and at the start, whatever, he's always there for us."
  • Chris had a serious skateboarding accident after the song had been written and recorded. He suffered a brain bleed and swelling that put him out of action for a few months. He told us: "I remember I got back after about a week after the accident, I got back in the studio and was putting final touches on that song. And hearing those lyrics sung back to myself, even though that was myself singing, just kind of reminded me of that. So it ended up creating an experience. It just happened after I had written the song. But it's kind of cool." (Read more in our interview with Chris August).
