Songfacts®:

  • "Heaven" is a heartfelt ode that illuminates the profound connection that Cian Ducrot cherishes with his older brother, Eoin. During the ballad's four-minute span, the Irish singer illuminates the connection they've shared from childhood.
  • The song opens with a vivid recollection by Ducrot, a moment etched in his memory from childhood when he took a tumble off his bike and his brother was there to extending a helping hand, brushing away the pain. It was in that instant Ducrot realized the depths of his brother's love and care.

As the song unfurls, it weaves a tapestry of their intertwined lives, from shared childhood escapades to navigating the complexities of adulthood. Ducrot's brother stands tall as his unwavering pillar of support.
  • Ducrot ends the second verse on a triumphant note, celebrating his brother's new role as a father and his own recent achievement in landing a prestigious gig.

They said I would never sing?
Well, now you've got a kid, I'm with Ed on tour,
    In cities I've never been

Ducrot supported Ed Sheeran on his UK and Europe tour in March/April 2023.
  • Cian Ducrot teamed up with English songwriter/producer Steve Mac, who not only co-wrote the song but also took charge of its production. Mac has an impressive track record of crafting chart-topping hits for the likes of Westlife, Little Mix, and Ed Sheeran.
  • Ducrot first performed the song during his May 2023 Australian headline show. He released it as a single via Polydor Records on June 2, 2023.
  • "Heaven" was the last song Ducrot wrote for his debut album, Victory. "I just know I wanted to write a song for my brother. I was younger and so my brother had to protect me, and I'll never get to be that person for him," he told The Sun. "My brother was the one who had to come forward and talk about abuse. It was physical and sexual and my brother had to bring it to my mum's attention and protect me afterwards. I think we were too young. That's so hard-hitting for me."

"I was lucky and got away," Ducrot continued. "I've had therapy and as a family we've been trying to recover from this horrendous thing."
