Songfacts®:

  • This was Corey Hart's second single, following up his hit "Sunglasses At Night." Hart was just 19 when he wrote the song, and while it sounds like a girl is the source of his frustration in they lyrics, he was actually writing about his struggle to get a record deal. He kept getting rejected by label after label until he landed an American deal with EMI that paid off when his first album went Gold in the US. Hart turned those emotions into a song with a more universal theme: unrequited love. (Here's our full interview with Corey Hart.)
