Songfacts®:

  • This was the follow-up to Crazy Town's breakthrough hit "Butterfly." Unlike "Butterfly," which is about finding one special girl, "Revolving Door" is about going through lots of women.
  • "Revolving Door" is more typical of Crazy Town's music than "Butterfly," which is what most people knew them for. After "Butterfly," Crazy Town wanted to release something that represented what they truly sound like so people would not be surprised by the hard sound on their album and live shows. "Butterfly" ended up being their only hit; lead singer Shifty Shellshock died in 2024 at 49.
  • Band members Seth Binzer and Brett Mazur (better known as Shifty Shellshock and Epic Mazur) wrote this. Stephen Costantino plays guitar on this song. >>

  • This was their fourth single. The first two, "Toxic" and "Darkside," flopped before "Butterfly" became a hit.
  • The video makes fun of hip-hop videos that objectify women. It was shot at a California estate that was made to look like the Playboy mansion.
  • Rod Stewart's daughter Kim is in the video along with Verne Troyer, who played "Mini Me" in the second Austin Powers movie.

  • George from London, United KingdomI've been looking for the original guitar sample and found "Ganxsta Zolee és a Kartel" as well, but on Wikipedia, they say Crazy Town sampled it from the "Siouxsie & the Banshees". I'm lost, I can't find which song they mean by the band "Siouxsie & the Banshees". Anyone can help me out?
