Songfacts®:

  • California roots band Dawes is the second coming of rock outfit Simon Dawes, who split up after the departure of co-songwriter Blake Mills. The makeup of the quartet for their second album, Nothing Is Wrong, comprised brothers Taylor (singer/guitarist) and Griffin Goldsmith (drums), along with Wylie Gelber (bass) and Tay Strathairn (keyboards). This song is a bittersweet love letter to the Goldsmith's hometown of Los Angeles.
  • Griffin Goldsmith lost his home, along with all his equipment, in the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. Dawes were front and center at the relief efforts, and on January 30 they played "Time Spent In Los Angeles" at the FireAid benefit concert.

On February 3, Griffin and Taylor were part of an all-star lineup that performed "I Love LA" to open the Grammy Awards.
