Songfacts®:

  • "4 Me" is a summer jam where Don Toliver and his real-life girlfriend Kali Uchis celebrate their commitment to each other.

In the first verse, Toliver encourages Uchis to keep her head up amid unspecified challenges. Toliver's chorus is about his unwavering commitment to his partner. In the second verse, the couple let loose in a club and immerse themselves in the music. During the refrain, Uchis sings of being equally content with their relationship.
  • Don Toliver and Kali Uchis first collaborated in June 2021 for "Drugs N Hella Melodies" off Toliver's sophomore album, Life of a DON. "4 Me" is their second duet.
  • Atlanta hip-hop producer Wheezy manned the boards. His production samples dancehall legend Beenie Man and Mya's 2000 track "Girls Dem Sugar." Uchis interpolates Mya's post chorus on "Girls Dem Sugar" during her refrain.
  • Don Toliver, Kali Uchis and Wheezy wrote "4 Me" with frequent The Kid Laroi and Post Malone collaborator Billy Walsh. The writers of "Girls Dem Sugar" - Beenie Man, The Neptunes and Steely & Clevie - also get credited.
  • Toliver released "4 Me" on February 15, 2023, as the second single from his third album, Love Sick.
