This is the title track of the 29th studio album by Doris Day. It was penned by Beach Boy Bruce Johnston and Day's son Terry Melcher, who died in 2004. Melcher was a songwriter/producer whose credits include the Beach Boys hit, "Kokomo."
My Heart was released in the UK on September 5, 2011, six months after Doris Day had turned 87. It debuted at #9 on the British album chart making her the oldest artist to score a UK Top 10 with an album featuring previously unreleased material - most of it was actually recorded before Melcher's death in 2004.
Phil Oakey recorded his vocals for "Don't You Want Me" in the studio bathroom. The recording was disrupted by guitarist Jo Callis reaching through an open window from outside to repeatedly flush one of the toilets.
