"Don't Bring Lulu" was first published in 1925, by Jerome H. Remick of New York and Detroit; the sheet music is credited to Billy Rose, Lew Brown and Ray Henderson. Originally a novelty song of sorts, it was widely recorded by men in comic style, including Billy Jones & Ernest Hare with additional dialogue, but arguably the best recording was the edited 1960 single by Dorothy Provine which was backed by "Whisper Song".
She also performed the song in the American TV series The Roaring Twenties
, which ran from 1960-62. Interestingly, Provine was born at Deadwood, South Dakota, as in "The Deadwood Stage
