  • On November 17, 2023, Drake surprised us with the release of For All the Dogs Scary Hours Edition with no prior publicity. The record is a reissue of For All the Dogs, which he dropped six weeks previously, but this time he's slapping on an extra six tracks. It's the next chapter of his Scary Hours series, rolling on from Scary Hours (2018) and Scary Hours 2 (2021), with the new tracks appended to For All the Dogs on digital platforms.

"Red Button" is the first new song on For All The Dogs Scary Hour Edition. Drake's diving deep into some dark vibes here, with a mindset darker than your ex's last DM. It sets the mood for the next five tracks, all bringing that heat with dark beats and lyrics.
  • Drake fires shots left and right in a single verse, promising a cold winter for all his haters. Most noteworthy is when he spits about his on-off feud with Kanye West.

Every time that Yeezy call the truce
    He had my head inflated
Thinking we going to finally peace it up and get to levitating

This Drake and Ye beef has been cooking for years. When they linked up for the Free Larry Hoover gig in LA in 2021, it seemed like things might cool down. But nah, 2022 saw Drizzy firing shots on "Circo Loco," and in 2023, he's still at it on "Search & Rescue." Drake's shining a light on what he sees as Ye's shady moves while trying to hash out their mess.
  • Elsewhere, Drake gives props to Taylor Swift, showing mad respect and even dropping a sales flex.

Taylor Swift the only n---a that I ever rated
Only one that could make me drop the album just a little later
Rest of ya'll, I treat ya'll like you never made it

Drake and Swift, they're the heavyweights in the music game, and they've got that mutual respect going on. Check this: In 2022, Swift hits us with Midnights on October 21, right? Now, Drake and 21 Savage were about to unleash Her Loss a week later, but they pushed it to November 4. Looks like they gave the Pop Princess a few weeks to rule the charts.

Drake's For All the Dogs landed on October 6, 2013, just three weeks before Swift dropped her 1989 (Taylor's Version). These two are playing the game, chess moves and all.
  • If I press this red button, dog, everybody Heaven Gated
Press this red button, dog, and everything forever changes

In studio equipment, the "red button" is typically used to indicate recording or capturing a signal. It is often found on microphones, audio interfaces, and recording consoles. When the red button is illuminated, it signifies that the device is actively recording and that any incoming audio signals will be captured and stored.

Drake thinks his tunes work like a chill pill, especially for the haters. Once that red button's hit, it's like he's slipping them a musical sedative, putting those critics to sleep, Drake style. It's like they're downing some metaphorical barbiturates. And he isn't holding back, calling their critiques "gated" and cult-like, shutting down closed-minded noise.
  • Ovrkast and Lil Yachty produced "Red Button," surrounding Drake's bars with an angelic chorus. Oakland-based rapper and producer Ovrkast and Atlanta rapper-singer Lil Yachty also teamed up to produce "The Shoe Fits" for For All the Dogs Scary Hours Edition.
  • Drake laid down the six new tracks between November 11–16, 2023. "I didn't have one bar written down for those songs on the night that For All the Dogs dropped," he wrote on Instagram. "It's not like I'm picking up from some unfinished s--t. You know, this is just happening on its own. And who am I to fight it?"
