Songfacts®:

  • This song is about spending time with your true love and realizing you do not need anything else in life to make you happy. The track was written by Diane Warren and first recorded by Edwin McCain. McCain told The Eagle that he had to speed the song up to suit his voice: "The tempo of the song was actually half of what it is now. At first, I wasn't into it. Now it's a popular wedding song; every night on tour people tell me that it was their wedding song."
  • This features in the 1999 movie, Message in a Bottle, starring Kevin Costner.
  • In 2001, the Country music artist Sara Evans covered this song. Evans' rendition went on to peak at #2 on the Country music charts.

  • Megan from Reserve LaI cry to it thinking about my dad.
  • Shandroise De Laeken from Davao City, PhilippinesI really love this song, especially the lines "And right here in this moment, is right where I'm meant to be, here with you, here with me.." and "I couldn't ask for more than the love you give me, 'cause it's all I'm waiting for". Though the entire song rings true to a wedding and the whole married life as a whole, I choose those lines which ring particularly to the couple being in front of the wedding altar, making their vow to God to love each other and be one forever. Exceedingly lovely, or I'm just one hopeless romantic. Totally loving this song + McCain's voice. As a girl, I love his version best although the girl's version did a feat in Country Music Charts.
