Songfacts®:

  • Sandé wrote this story of a bewildered partner watching powerless as their former lover walks out of the door with her producer Shahid "Naughty Boy" Khan and guitarist Ben Harrison. She told Q magazine the story of the song: "We work with this guitarist called Ben Harrison, and he'd put down the riff and it reminded me of a really simple Country song, so I just started singing and Suitcase came out from nowhere. I subconsciously wrote it about a big breakup I'd been through, but I didn't realize it at the time. I was too busy working to think about it. It was late and we all know when it's late it gets a bit more personal."
