Songfacts®:

  • Everlast's solo work is filled with songs about the grind of life, and getting by in difficult times. This song is in that vein, as he sings about the struggles when "your whole world keeps falling apart."
  • Everlast drew inspiration from his oldest daughter, Laila, who was born with cystic fibrosis. He wrote it with two big-time Nashville songwriters, Luke Laird and Barry Dean. Laird's credits include several hits for Carrie Underwood as well as Blake Shelton's "Hillbilly Bone." Dean co-wrote Little Big Town's "Pontoon" and Martina McBride's "God's Will."
