Songfacts®:

  • "Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat" is a track by Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, created in collaboration with Italian DJ Riva Starr and English beatboxer Beardyman. The lyrics and vocals were reportedly improvised by Beardyman in a single take, capturing the nonstop, chaotic spirit of the urban party scene.

He later shared the full vocal on SoundCloud with the accompanying note: "So like, I went to Norman Cook's studio, and Riva Starr was there too. He was like, 'Hey, how 'bout 'Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat?'' and I was like, 'Sure.' So we talked about things that had happened when we'd been up for three days partying, and I went and spat this horses--t into his dirty, dirty microphone. Now it's a tune you can buy 'n' s--t, but here's the bulls--t in its full entirety for your remixing displeasure."
  • Fatboy Slim and Riva Starr initially didn't plan to officially release the song. However, after it gained popularity in Fatboy Slim's live sets, they decided to issue it via a magazine compilation album. A remix by Scottish DJ Calvin Harris lent the track even more momentum, reaching #3 on the UK chart and becoming Fatboy Slim's first Top 10 entry since 2001's "Star 69/Weapon of Choice."
  • The official music video for the Calvin Harris remix shows 250 participants taking part in an endurance dance event in London, with the winner receiving a £500 prize. Fatboy Slim commented on the clip: "I take off my hat and trousers to everyone who competed. It was brutal, it was emotional, and no one died."
  • Fatboy Slim frequently begins his sets with this track while speaking into a camera like a news anchor. His shows often include topical images, such as one of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, which appeared on screen the day Johnson announced his resignation over the COVID party scandal. Fatboy Slim gave Johnson's image the middle finger, a bold move considering Johnson's wife, Carrie, was in the crowd.
