Songfacts®:

  • Fletcher's ex is Shannon Beveridge, a YouTube star and podcaster. They first got together in 2016 and had one of those relationships that would get red hot when it was going strong but could turn cold and distant just as quickly. They kept it as private as they could, but Fletcher would often write songs about it, like her 2019 track "Undrunk."

By 2020, Fletcher and Beveridge had broken up, but they found themselves quarantining together when a short visit turned into months of lockdown. During this time, they put together The S(ex) Tapes, a seven-song EP with songs by Fletcher and videos shot and directed by Beveridge. When they released it, they opened the door on their relationship and made it clear there were still some sparks. In this song, Fletcher recounts one of their encounters when they were broken up but found themselves drawn back together for sex.
  • The video is low-budget but very intimate, shot like a sex tape. We see Fletcher and Beveridge kissing and enjoying their time together, then when the music ends they tag it with come commentary where Fletcher says, "Quarantine is ending... goodbye forever."

They went their separate ways but were able to keep tabs on each other through social media. When Beveridge started dating the influencer Becky Missal, Fletcher didn't handle it well. She wrote a song called "Becky's So Hot" in response.
  • Fletcher wrote the song with Ilsey Juber and Malay (James Ho), who also produced the track. Juber has also written with Harry Styles ("Treat People With Kindness"), Shawn Mendes ("Mercy") and Miley Cyrus ("Midnight Sky). Malay has done a lot of work with Frank Ocean and Lorde.
