Göttliche Devise

  • songfacts ®
  • This song was developed from a melody by Alfonso The Wise, King of Castile. The 1999 Geyers Schwarzer Haufen recording features Ritchie Blackmore on lead guitar; Blackmore became a great admirer of this German outfit, and his love of and commitment to Renaissance music is largely down to them. Two years later "Göttliche Devise" was adapted, and with new lyrics by Candice Night became the title track of the third Blackmore's Night album Fires At Midnight. >>
