Songfacts®:

  • Here, Giveon gets involved in a relationship with a girl with a promiscuous past. Instead of facing the painful truth that she's had other lovers, he wants his sweetheart to lie to him so he can keep the fantasy that he's her one and only.

"'Lie Again' is a story about the internal war with oneself, battling the acceptance of the ugly truth, and the refusal to embrace the ghosts of your lover's past," Giveon said. "Detailing the complexities of overlooking red flags to remain blissfully ignorant in the name of love."
  • Giveon co-wrote and co-produced "Lie Again" with Don Mills. The Toronto producer also collaborated with Giveon on his When It's All Said and Done track "Last Time" and Spotify single "Untitled (How Does It Feel)."
  • Giveon released "Lie Again" as the second single from Give or Take. Giveon's debut longplayer comprises experiences he recounts to his mother in search of advice. "The whole concept of the album is me having a conversation with my mom, and we're just catching up," he told Apple Music.
