Songfacts®:

  • Is there really any such word as someplace? Probably not, but the English language is nothing if not organic, and Hal Ketchum can be forgiven any grammatical faux pas for writing something as charming as this.

Usually know simply as "Someplace Far Away," the single was released on the Curb label, September 13, 1993. Running to 4 minutes 4 seconds, it performed creditably on the Country chart, reaching #24. The punchline comes at the end, be careful what you wish for, the moral of the 1902 short story The Monkey's Paw, which has a far darker and much more sinister ending than Ketchum's sad tale of an unfulfilled dream. >>>

  • Billycee from CanadaMy favourite Hal song. The restless nature of the male mind.....we crave the greener grass of some far off place when perhaps....we should simply be content with the nice space we're in..... RIP Hal
