Songfacts®:

  • In his songs, Hardy is mighty fond of portraying himself as a good ol' country boy, driving trucks, downing shots, and soaking up that country-living vibe. One such song that encompasses these themes is "Truck Bed."
  • Here, Hardy wakes up in the back of his truck, tossed out of his own dang house by his gal. He realizes he messed up something fierce and knows he deserves a good whipping.
  • The chorus paints the picture. Hardy wakes up in the truck bed, clutching a bottle of Jack Daniels, reckoning he's been kicked to the curb and feeling mighty sorry for his lonesome self. He belts out how his girlfriend has some nerve to kick him out, but admits he got what he deserves.

The first verse spills more beans about their whole shebang. Hardy's gal warned him not to show up at home if he hit the bar, but he went ahead and ignored that advice, getting himself good 'n liquored up. He ended up knocking on their door come 2 a.m., but she turned him away, ice-cold.

In the second verse, he uses an empty bag of corn to rest his head and a camo jacket for a makeshift blankie. Hardy passes out like a corpse, not a care in the world.
  • Hardy recorded "Truck Bed" for The Mockingbird & the Crow. He released it as the album's fourth single on May 15, 2023.
  • Hardy co-wrote this twisty, rock/pop-infused banger with Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson and Hunter Phelps. The same quartet also penned The Mockingbird & the Crow's opening track, "Beer."
  • Joey Moi served as the main producer for The Mockingbird & the Crow with Hardy and Derek Wells co-producing. Ben Johnson also joined the production crew for "Truck Bed."
