Songfacts®:

  • This is the opening track from Happiness, the debut studio album by English synthpop duo Hurts. Keyboardist Adam Anderson told 69 Degrees magazine that women were a big inspiration behind the record. He explained: "I think on this album we tried to talk about relationships from a male point of view; the first song on the album, 'Silver Lining,' we found when we wrote it that the women around us were quite miserable, so that song is about us and them and trying to empathise with women. There's moments in all the songs that touch on things like that, so I guess the album's about women."
