Songfacts®:

  • Following J Hus' January 2020 Big Conspiracy album, he remained off the radar for over three years, only emerging to appear on "Cloak & Dagger," a track on Burna Boy's 2022 set, Love, Damini. The UK rapper finally returned to solo action with this track, which he dropped on May 25, 2023.
  • "It's Crazy" flips the script from J Hus' usual summer vibes, diving into some deep and dark territory. He doesn't hold back as he tackles street life, mental health, spirituality, and more.
  • The chief concept of this aggressive banger concerns Hus battling his inner demons.

The devil in me, demon in me
I had six, but I let go of three

Hus' tries not to let his anger consume him and let the devil take over his soul.
  • Fumes Beats cooked up the drill-infused instrumentation. It's the first collaboration between Hus and the young London producer; their connection came about through Fumes' manager being a longtime friend of Hus' manager. Known for his versatility in rap beats, Fumes has also worked with the likes of Potter Payper and Chip.
  • The release of the song was accompanied by some visuals directed by Stormzy and Headie One's close friend and collaborator, Taz Tron Delix. It marked Hus' first new video in over five years.

Delix creates a mind-bending, dystopian world that matches the raw energy of the track and gives us a glimpse into Hus' state of mind. We see Hus transported to a chaotic industrial setting, surrounded by faceless soldiers. The clip builds to an explosive, riotous climax as these shadowy supernatural troopers clash with riot police.
  • "It's Crazy" is the lead single from J Hus' third album, Beautiful and Brutal Yard. The LP debuted at #1 on the UK albums chart in July 2023, becoming the rapper's second consecutive chart-topper on the tally, following 2020's Big Conspiracy.
