  • October 10, 1983
  • Jack Savoretti is a British-Italian singer-songwriter whose smoky, soulful voice and roots in classic troubadour balladry have made him one of the UK's most consistent chart performers, scoring two UK #1 albums - Singing to Strangers (2019) and Europiana (2021) - while drawing comparisons to everyone from Leonard Cohen to Serge Gainsbourg.
  • His paternal grandfather, Dr. Giovanni Savoretti (after whom Jack is named), led the partisan resistance movement in Genoa that fought German occupation during World War II. The city posthumously honored him with a plaque on Via XX Settembre, and they named a street in the nearby municipality of Lavagna in his memory.
  • Savoretti was born in Westminster, London, to an Italian father and a mother of German and Polish-Jewish descent who had been a model in the London jet-set scene of the 1960s and '70s.
  • Savoretti spent part of his teenage years living in Lugano, Switzerland, attending an international school alongside classmates from across the globe, an upbringing he credits with shaping his restless, travel-driven approach to songwriting.
  • A fluent Italian speaker, Savoretti is a passionate supporter of Genoa Cricket and Football Club. This loyalty began the day he was born, as his great-great-uncle was reportedly the last club president to lead Genoa to a league title. His devotion runs so deep that he filmed the video for "Home" at the club's Stadio Luigi Ferraris, shooting just hours before a high-stakes match against Juventus despite warnings from friends that it was bad luck.

That superstition nearly proved true: the "Home" match stayed scoreless until the 93rd minute, when Genoa scored the winning goal. "After the match people lined up to touch us and take photos," Savoretti told The Journal. "There's now a 'Savoretti' banner in the stadium!"
  • Miss Italia was Savoretti's eighth album and his first recorded entirely in Italian. Released in 2024, the full-circle project reconnected him with his father's homeland and the Genoa neighborhood culture he grew up visiting.
  • In 2010, Savoretti married British actress Jemma Powell, who is known for her roles in Alice in Wonderland and The Hole. The couple first met at a party years before they wed. Savoretti told The Guardian the moment he saw her he thought: "There she is. The mother of my children. My future."
