• Savoretti wrote the song with his pal Miles Kane from the Last Shadow Puppets. "Miles and I have been friends for a few years," Savoretti told The Sun. "We may come from different places, but we are kindred spirits. When we got together to write for this album we realized the greatest thing we have in common is how we love what we do, and we do it for love."
• The pair's inspiration came from an old television performance of Julio Iglesias and Charles Aznavour singing "Comè triste Venezia." Both Savoretti and Kane were still wearing suits after escaping an awards ceremony when they watched it and thought they should write something with that same timeless sophistication. They completed a torch song that marries sweeping cinematic melodies with smoky jazz-noir drama.
• "Do It For Love" was released as one of the lead singles from Savoretti's ninth album, We Will Always Be the Way We Were. The album was recorded live over eight days at Eastcote Studios in West London with Tommaso Colliva (known for work with Muse and Damon Albarn) and Savoretti's longtime touring band.
