Songfacts®:

  • In a 2001 interview with Ken Paulson for Speaking Freely, Jackie DeShannon said "Somewhere In America" was probably the first song for which she wrote complete lyrics before setting it to music. Not to be confused with the Jim Peterick composition of the same name, it is a song with an environmentalist message with particular reference to stopping pollution and protecting the flora and fauna. >>>
