Incomplete

Album: Chaos and The Calm (2015)

Songfacts®:

  • Working with James Bay, who was playing a metal-bodied resonator guitar, producer Jake Gosling (Ed Sheeran, One Direction) remarked that the sound was somehow "Incomplete." The comment led to the closing track of Chaos and the Calm. Gosling explained to Q magazine:

"A sound can suddenly bear an idea. With 'Incomplete,' it was the feeling of everything you want and need being around you. But there's always that feeling that maybe there's something slightly incomplete about it."
