Songfacts®:

  • Not to be confused with the Jerome Kern song "You Are Love," this endearing orchestrated ballad was co-written by the saxophonist Teo Macero (music) with lyrics by Janis Ian, who also performed it. It is used in the 1980 Kinji Fukasaku film Fukkatsu No Hi - ie Virus, which at that time was the most expensive Japanese film ever made.

Janis Ian has written some fine songs in her long career, but there can be few that compare with this. >>>

  • "Toujours Gai Mon Cher" is French. It translates roughly to "Always, my dear."
