Songfacts®:

  • Jax Jones has already worked with Raye, Ira Wroldsen, Demi Lovato and Stefflon Don. Now he adds London-based R&B singer-songwriter Mabel to his list of collaborators. Jones explained:

"I wanted to try and make something different to previous… singles with Mabel, step away from the club and show more range, but something you can still have a little dance to."
  • The song finds Mabel calling on the phone her cheating boyfriend. She tries to regain her power in the situation, in which she's been treated badly.

Maybe you can make this right (maybe you can make this right)
'Cause so many times, I've told you
The next time I'll be colder to you, to you

Mabel is trying to put herself back in the driver's seat.
  • Atlanta rapper Rich the Kid also contributes a verse to the feisty banger. He gives the cheating guy's side of the story claiming it was just a one night stand.
  • The stylish, retro music video directed by Luke Davies finds Mabel running an '80s call girl center. Jax Jones also makes a cameo in the technology-obsessed clip, but Rich the Kid doesn't make it onto the visual.
