This song finds Jeff Tweedy addressing the passing of his father in 2017. He told Q magazine: "I was going through a pretty intense period in my life. In the years leading up to my dad dying, there was a complete reassessment of his impact on my life and a reassessment of him as a person. We had a pretty complex relationship but our communication got a lot deeper, and I'm really grateful of that opportunity to paint a more accurate picture of him."
The TV show Cheers was nearly canceled after its first season, but the theme song, "Where Everybody Knows Your Name," was very popular. To satisfy viewer demand, the theme was made into a full song and released as a single.
