Songfacts®:

  • Long before Taylor Swift took up with Travis Kelce, Jessica Simpson dated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. "You're My Sunday" is a about him, the title a reference to how his games were usually played on Sundays.

Simpson gushed to AOL: "He inspires me to be a better person. He just makes my life peaceful. In the midst of all the chaos, the gossip, the tabloids and people's expectations of me, it's nice to know that a guy loves you for who you are. So 'You're My Sunday' is dedicated to him."

Romo and Simpson started dating in November 2007 and were going strong when she released the song on her Do You Know album in September 2008. She may have spiked the football prematurely: They split up in July 2009.
  • Simpson wrote the song with Nashville hitmakers Luke Laird and Hillary Lindsey. The Do You Know album was a turn toward country music for Simpson, with the single "Come on Over" her first to land on the Country chart.
