Songfacts®:

  • "She's a Genius" was the first single from the Australian rock band Jet's third studio album, Shaka Rock. They released their debut album, Get Born, in 2003, which landed an international hit with "Are You Gonna Be My Girl." By the time Shaka Rock came out, their audience had dwindled and the band were getting burned out. They took time off to decompress and work on solo projects in 2011 and didn't get back together until 2017 when Bruce Springsteen enlisted them as an opening act on his Australian tour.
  • Jet drummer Chris Cester wrote this song. He told Billboard magazine that this track is "about a girl who does things that just take it to the next level in your mind."

It's a very different character than the one they sang about in their 2003 hit "Cold Hard Bitch."
  • Jet debuted this song at a secret show in Melbourne on December 17, 2008.

  • Brian from Wilmington, DeThat's because the riff is exactly the same as "My Sharona."
  • Paul from Rothesay, Nb, CanadaKinda reminds me of "My Sharona".
