Songfacts®:

  • "Things You Do" is an understated 1:48 vignette recorded by Justin Bieber for his seventh album, Swag. He sings the praises of the quiet, lovely things his wife Hailey does, the kind of stuff that absolutely radiates romance. Riffing over a simple guitar figure, Bieber freestyled the lyrics in the studio.
  • Bieber wrote the song with its producers, Carter Lang and Dijon.

Lang helped shape the woozy world of SZA's Ctrl and SOS, co-writing and producing smashes like "Love Galore" and the chart-devouring "Kill Bill." He also produced and co-wrote "Sunflower" by Post Malone and Swae Lee, one of the biggest pop hits of the late 2010s.

Dijon Duenas, known simply as Dijon, began his career as one half of the R&B duo Abhi//Dijon, releasing two projects between 2015 and 2016 before embarking on a solo career. His debut album, Absolutely (2021), was critically acclaimed and included the single "Many Times," which was featured in Barack Obama's 2022 summer playlist.
  • "Things You Do" fits snugly within the themes of Swag. While the title may nod to his earlier swaggerific days, the music tells a different story, one of commitment and gratitude inspired by Bieber's relationship with Hailey and his transition into fatherhood.
