  • Katseye is a multinational girl group with six members from diverse backgrounds: the Philippines (Sophia), South Korea (Yoonchae), Switzerland (Manon), and the United States (Daniela, Lara, and Megan). The members come from various linguistic backgrounds, contributing to their global appeal.
  • The group was formed through The Debut: Dream Academy, a reality competition series created by the South Korean entertainment giant HYBE Corporation and Geffen Records. The show, featuring 20 finalists from over 120,000 global applicants, premiered in September 2023 and the final lineup was announced in November 2023.
  • Lara, Sophia, Daniela, and Manon are the first artists of Indian, Filipina, Latina, and Black descent, respectively, to be signed by HYBE.
  • Sophia is the leader of the group. Her mother, Carla Guevara Laforteza, is a well-known singer and actress in the Philippines.
  • Yoonchae holds the position of "Maknae," the Korean term for the youngest member. Yoonchae is also the only member born and raised in South Korea.
  • Their journey and preparation for their debut were documented in the Netflix series Pop Star Academy: Katseye, which premiered on August 21, 2024.
  • Their name, Katseye (stylized in all caps), is inspired by the gemstone chrysoberyl, also known as cat's eye. The gemstone displays different colors depending on the viewing angle, which the group says represents the diverse talents and backgrounds of the members. The spelling was reportedly changed from "Catseye" to "Katseye" because it "looked cooler."
  • The group's official fandom name is Eyekons, a blend of "eye" (from Katseye) and "icon." It was chosen with fan input through the Weverse platform and announced in April 2024.
  • Katseye officially debuted on June 28, 2024 with their first single, "Debut." They followed this with a second single, "Touch," in July 2024, which became their breakthrough hit.
