Songfacts®:

  • "Touch" finds Katseye mapping the emotional arc of a one-sided relationship, from longing and obsessive overthinking to a firm, empowered decision to move on. The central phrase, "you been so out of touch," does double duty: the absent physical and emotional contact Katseye craves, and the loss of regular communication that ultimately ends the relationship.
  • Caroline Ailin and Kota Banks wrote the song with the track's producers, Blake Slatkin, Omer Fedi, Taka Perry and Cashmere Cat.

Caroline Ailin is a Norwegian singer-songwriter based in London, best known for co-writing Dua Lipa's 2017 hit "New Rules" (2017) and several tracks on Dua Lipa's 2024 Radical Optimism album, including the lead single, "Houdini." She also co-penned PinkPantheress' "Stateside."

Kota Banks (real name Jessica Mimi) is an Australian pop singer-songwriter and musician. This is her first songwriting credit with a major artist.

Israeli Omer Fedi and Californian Blake Slatkin are a celebrated co-writing/production duo behind numerous major pop hits, including 24kgoldn's "Mood" and Sam Smith's "Unholy."

Taka Perry is an Australian-Japanese producer and songwriter from Canberra, Australia. He helped produce Ruel's 2019 Australian hit "Younger."

Cashmere Cat is a Norwegian producer known for his dreamy, left-of-center sonic textures, which lend "Touch" its distinctive liquid drum and bass feel. He collaborated with Fedi and Slatkin on The Kid Laroi's "Stay." He has also worked with Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Charli XCX.
  • "Touch" was released on July 26, 2024 as the second pre-release single ahead of Katseye's debut EP SIS (Soft Is Strong). It contrasts sharply with the fierce debut single, "Debut" (produced with Ryan Tedder), presenting a softer, more introspective side of the group. Where "Debut" introduced their bold, confident identity, "Touch" demonstrates range, silky vocals, dreamy production, and emotional vulnerability, establishing the group's capacity for both power and tenderness.
  • The music video takes inspiration from the late 1990s and early 2000s Y2K aesthetic. The plot follows a citywide search for youngest member Yoonchae, who has gone "missing." Each member's symbolic "dream charm" is featured throughout - Sophia's dream anchor, Megan's dual cherry, Daniela's guardian shield, Lara's limitless key, Manon's stellar tiara, and Yoonchae's soothing shell - representing their individual qualities.
  • The choreography for "Touch" was designed from the outset to go viral. Katseye's executive creator Son Sungdeuk crafted intentionally simple, TikTok-friendly moves, notably the pinky-to-thumb touches in the chorus, to encourage fan participation. A TikTok featuring members Manon and Yoonchae dancing to "Touch" alongside Heeseung and Ni-ki of ENHYPEN (a fellow HYBE act) amassed millions of views and the song chart internationally in the Philippines, Canada, Taiwan, and Malaysia.
  • During Katseye's headline-making debut performance at Coachella 2026 (April 10–11 and April 17) they included "Touch" in their setlist. The performance generated enormous word-of-mouth attention globally, which propelled "Touch" back onto the charts almost two years after its original release.
  • On October 11, 2024, a remix was released featuring Yeonjun of TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), who wrote and performed an entirely original verse for the track (replacing Megan's original second verse). Yeonjun's verse flips the perspective, offering the tardy lover's apologetic side and adding a playful narrative counterpoint.

The connection to TXT is notable within the HYBE family; both acts are signed to HYBE-affiliated labels, and the collaboration bridged Katseye's Western pop audience with TXT's substantial K-pop fanbase.
