Songfacts®:

  • This song begins with a bass riff by Gene Simmons. He recalled the story of the song to Classic Rock magazine: "I read a book called 100,000 Years where 100,000 years ago we were visited by aliens," he said. "Also Einstein's theory of relativity. I was reading all kinds of space and time continuance stuff, and it was all swirling around my head."

"I showed this stuff to Paul (Stanley), and he's going: 'What's 100,000 years?' I said: 'Let's just try it.' And then Paul came up with some stuff and I added the riff."

  • Chris from AlexisAfter the kiss alive version of 100,000 years after he says rock ‘n’ roll, some person says Paul Stanley not bull s--t.
  • Luna Loud from Royal Woods, MichiganIf you listen closely to the version on Alive, after the song ends and Paul yells, "Rock N' Roll!" if you listen real closely you can hear someone in the audience yell, "Bulls--t!" I thought it was funny that no one, even those that were editing the album, noticed it. What I can't understand, though, is why would someone pay to see a band, just to heckle them? Awesome song anyway, especially the Alive! version.
  • AnonymousWhat a Drum solo on Alive! What stamina. It's been one of my favorites since 1975. Go cat go!
  • Sim from Cleveland RocksStraight up rock and roll.
