Songfacts®:

  • Dieuson Octave is a Florida born and raised hip-hop recording artist of Haitian heritage. From the age of six, Octave used the nickname "Black" and when he joined Instagram he chose the username "Kodak Black". This subsequently became his performing name.
  • Black has had frequent run-ins with the law throughout his career. The resulting several stints he has spent in jail have stunted his rise to fame. He raps here about needing to focus on his music career rather than giving in to the temptation to pursue illegal activities.

Lil Kodak they don't like to see you winnin'
They wanna see you in the penitentiary
I need me a lil' baby who gon' listen
My mama told me, "Boy make a decision"
Right now I gotta keep a tunnel vision.

Black's haters are rooting for his downfall. However if the rapper maintains a tunnel vision and concentrate his efforts on his career, he can keep out of jail.
  • Tunnel vision is when an individual focuses exclusively on a single or limited objective or view. The resulting narrowed field of vision is compared to being within a tunnel looking out. The phrase was first used around 1942.
  • Black raps at the beginning of the first verse

I jumped out of that Wraith, Kodak bought a Wraith
I get any girl I want, any girl I want

In the original version that Black performed in several concerts he rapped: "I get any girl I want, I don't gotta' rape". The lyric seemed to refer to a charge of sexual assault in which a woman accused the Florida rapper of forcing himself on her in a South Carolina hotel room. His team most likely thought it best to change the line to make it less offensive.
