Songfacts®:

  • This county-pop come-on finds a vulnerable Gaga, acknowledging her weaknesses, but wanting her man to love her warts and all.

Put on a pretty little number
    I'm wearing you still
It was a hell of a scene at daddy's feast
Nobody saw it coming, but the little red devil in me

Speaking to Beats 1's Zane Lowe, Gaga explained: "This song is about singing to a man just telling him, 'Look I just don't want to break the heart of any other man but you, but I know that I'm a sinner.'"
  • Gaga wrote the song with Josh Tillman (aka Father John Misty) and former Amy Winehouse guitarist Thomas Brenneck. She also produced the track, along with Joanne producers Mark Ronson and BloodPop.
  • Thomas Brenneck also played guitar on the track. Other credited musicians for this include Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings founder members Victor Axelrod (piano) and Homer Steinweiss (drums), Queen of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and Sean Lennon (both slide guitar), Leon Michels of Dan Auerbach's side project The Arcs (keyboards, Mellotron) and Nashville songwriter Hillary Lindsey (background vocals).
